  • A Power Factor Panel, also known as an Automatic Power Factor Correction (APFC) Panel, is an electrical control panel that improves the efficiency of an electrical system by monitoring and adjusting its power factor. It works by automatically switching capacitor banks on and off to reduce reactive power, thereby decreasing energy consumption, lowering electricity bills, reducing power loss, and preventing penalties from utility companies.  How it Works
    1. Monitoring: The panel uses sensors and microprocessors to continuously monitor the system's power factor, which is the ratio of active power (kW) to apparent power (kVA). 
    2. Analysis: It analyzes the monitored power factor to determine the amount of reactive power needed to bring the system's power factor close to the ideal value of 1. 
    3. Automatic Adjustment: Based on the analysis, the panel automatically switches the appropriate capacitor bank units on or off to supply the necessary reactive power.

An RTPFC Control Panel (Real-Time Power Factor Correction) is an advanced electrical system that automatically and continuously adjusts the power factor (PF) of an electrical system to a near-unity value in real-time by switching power factor correction capacitor banks in and out as needed. It uses electronic Thyristor (SCR) switching with "zero crossover" technology for fast, reliable, and transient-free operation, which significantly reduces energy costs, minimizes maximum demand, enhances system capacity, and prevents issues caused by low power factors and harmonics in large, fluctuating industrial loads. Purpose and Functionality
  • Power Factor Regulation: The primary goal is to maintain the power factor as close to 1.0 (unity) as possible by supplying reactive power from the capacitor banks to counteract the reactive power consumed by inductive loads. 
  • Reactive Power Compensation: It automatically connects and disconnects capacitors from the network in fractions of a second (milliseconds) to match the real-time reactive power demand of the load.
